Talk about lack of ability to be a decent medical facility. I filled out a release form to get medical records transferred from my last doctor's office to here; after 2 weeks of calling and being transferred+ignored and running out of my medication I finally receive a voicemail saying if I want my records transferred I need to fill out a release form...one that I already filled out and turned in that same day. I had to fill out another release form. They said they had no record of the previous one in their system but my old doctor's office confirmed they had reached out prior to my phone call from them today 09/29/25. I have no choice but to keep going here for medical care because E. A. hawse has a monopoly on health care centers in our area. Shame.
Whoever is keeping up with the cleaning at the doctor office is doing a really good job. When I come for my appt it looks so clean & smells great. A few months ago I remember walking in & seeing all kinds of dirt on the tables in the lobby the bathroom so dirty. Just like to say keep up the great work , looking really nice...
This facility fails in patient care. They leave residents lying in their own excrement all night and often times until after lunch. Family & friends are 70 miles away and when showing up to visit our love one is still in the bed at 1pm. Patient has not had bed bath, face washed , oral hygiene, fingernails cleaned, brief changes and has not been gotten out of bed. This is embarrassing to the patient. Please don't put your love one here UNLESS you can come visit daily. Otherwise, they will be neglected.
I hate to say anything bad about anyone, but E A Hawse in Baker WV with Dr Elizabeth Smith. I've been her patient for many years. I've always liked her and her kindness, but when you've been waiting to see her for over a year and you get that phone call that the scheduled she made a year ago has been cancelled. The next appt won't be til Feb 28,2023 because your Dr needs that day off with no regards to her scheduled patient. And how far out us patient will be scheduled because of her canceling our regular scheduled appointments. I'm making a big decision and leaving Dr Smith and E A Hawse to go to a better Health Care Facility. I can only hope that E A Hawse treats the patient they still have with better care someday and put their patient first not last.
I hate to write such a bad review but I believe the people at the front desk are the face and first impression of any facility. I have never had an issue with my providers or the downstairs reception but my very first impression of the upstairs receptionists wasn't good at all. Since then my experience has been unremarkable at the front desk until my last visit. The same miserable lady from my first encounter was once again there to speak to me in a condescending manner and respond to a friendly question very negative and offensively. It is a shame because my friendly comment was only made in hope that maybe this lady will stop being so abrasive when I just come to see a doctor. While in the waiting room I observed this woman 1. Not wearing a mask at all. 2. Wearing her mask improperly (full nose out) while dealing with patients. And Also 3. Not being corrected by other staff. With your average upstairs patient being in the high-risk category I would surely expect your standards be higher than that of the local McDonalds. I did not go out of my way to complain about this but did speak to a manager the following day as a follow-up for canceling my appointments. I stand by my 1 star review, although the people on the other side of that office are great, I won't make it past the disrespect and health risk at the front door.
