I have been a patient at the Tazewell office for many years. I had an appointment scheduled for today at 1:00 I received a text to confirm my appointment 1:00 appointment. I also received a phone call to remind me to take my antibiotics before the appointment. I arrived at 1:00 and was turned away because they had changed their policy and you must arrive 15 minutes early. No signs stating this, nothing on the text sent. I am in danger of loosing 4 teeth on the bottom and was scheduled for fillings. They kept my insurance card for 25 minutes but refused to see me until August 5. To change policy you need to notify clients and post a sign so no one gets turned away because they are not informed of policy changes. Makes you wonder what will change next. I think I am done.
I’ve been seeing the Dentist in Saltville for 11/2 years, the staff is wonderful and they work with you, they make you feel at ease , wouldn’t go any where else
Updated 9/28/2023 Both of my children were told they wouldn’t be seen anymore by Dr Etter. She gave no reason as to why, except that a Dr from Bristol and herself decided that they would not continue to care for our two children. The really bad part was that our 7 year old son, who she diagnosed with ADHD, was having issues with the medication she prescribed. After a change in medication she was unavailable for over a month. He was still having headaches and stomach aches. I feel since she didn’t give a reason that she was probably not comfortable with treating him due to not understanding ADHD very well. I know she is young, but if she was not confident in practicing medicine of that kind then why not just refer us. I. The 5 years we have been going there we only missed a couple appointments. We were always respectful, and this really frustrates me as this is such a small community. I’m not sure how she justifies this to herself. I know in Virginia this is something that is totally legal, but as a physician she should hold herself to a higher standard. We found another Pediatrician, and I hope that they are more professional than Dr Etter. Just beware that at anytime for no reason she will refuse to see your children. This is a problem for such a small community. We should take care of our own, and uplift the community. I hope she realizes what she is doing is hurting people. Which is totally against the Hippocratic oath she took. Updated 9/25/2023 If you get a second opinion they will fire you as a patient. Now I have to start new even though I explained that I had marked the wrong box. Very unprofessional staff, and stay away from DO Etter. You would have better luck googling your issues. I know this sounds mean, but I wasn’t taken seriously when I told her that my son was having stomach aches and headaches. She couldn’t fit him in in a timely manner. If I could give the staff a zero I would. I hate that they couldn’t be adults and take their oath seriously. Now we will have to start all over and put my son through undue stress and pain because they couldn’t be professional. I have been taking my children here for over 4 years. Usually everything would go ok, and our visits were pleasant. Recently we had an issue with the front desk clerk. We had shown up late two times, and missed one appointment in those 4 years. They told us that it was their policy to drop us as a patient. Well actually we could do walk-ins, and after 3 walk-ins then we would be able to start making appointments again. This would mean that we would have to go there and wait all day until they had a no show or could fit us in, which would not be guaranteed. It could have taken us an enormous amount of time and missed school to somehow make these walk-in appointments. As you could tell I was furious at the clerk at the front desk. The first time we were late it was only by 10 minutes, which is their cutoff. The best time we were late was due to my son’s school being in the middle of an impromptu drill when I came to sign him out. I still went to the appointment to explain and try to get him in as he has ADHD, and we are adjusting his controlled medications. The CLERK told me I was late and didn’t even offer to reschedule. So she decided that she would put this down as a no show. I understand that our doctor is extremely busy, and it really throws a wrench in their day when something like this happens. Of course with my child having side effects from the medications I was in no mood to deal with a rude clerk. I give respect until I don’t receive it back. Thank goodness we were able to explain to the manager our situation. She was very helpful, and realized I made a mistake on my paperwork to get a second opinion, and that over the 4 years we didn’t really miss three days. It is their corporate policy to do drop patients if something like this happens, so beware and make sure that you are early and hopefully if you have an issue you can speak to the nice manager.
Doctors, FNP, Nursing and Office Staff treatment me as if I was their family in the most "Sincere, Respectful, Truthful and Honest" way possible. As a Senior Citizens with With serious Healrh Needs, I am Valued as an Individual, NOT As a Patient number or a Paycheck. Thanks you !
My wife and I see Dr. Ortiz, we are truly impressed with his knowledge and skills. He is very aware of each and everyone's individual diagnoses, he doesn't "clump" all patients into the same diagnosis, each person is different and is treated as an individual. Example, my wife and I might have the same issues but he sure to make sure he treats us the same but with maybe our different avenues to treatment. Thank you so much we ,couldn't possibly give you enough credit. Thanks !
