I'm so blessed to have Ms Bethany for my prymary doctor she calls and checks on her patients. Thank You so much
In September, I learned that I was pregnant. I contacted my primary care provider, Maranda Dendy, to request completion of workplace accommodation forms, as my job in sales is highly stressful. My employer was willing to provide accommodations and only required my PCP’s signature. However, each time I attempted to schedule an appointment, I was told that Ms. Dendy had no availability and that I would need to call back every morning at 7:30 a.m. to try for a same-day appointment. Despite calling daily, I was never able to be seen. In November, I unfortunately suffered a miscarriage. My employer again offered accommodations so I could take time off during the miscarriage process and to grieve, and again only required my PCP’s signature. Beginning on 11/13, I called repeatedly to schedule an appointment, but was again told that Ms. Dendy had no availability and that I would need to continue calling at 7:30 a.m. each day. I did so, without success. Yesterday, I was informed by one staff member that Ms. Dendy would have same-day appointments available today and that I should call in the morning. When I called this morning, I was told by a different staff member that I was the first caller, but that something had changed overnight and she no longer had availability. To accommodate me, he scheduled me with Mr. Thompson. When I arrived for my appointment today, I was warmly greeted by two front desk staff members. There was an issue with the card reader, and instead of being charged a $20 copay, my card was charged an additional $60. This was voided, which I appreciated. I then waited approximately 20 minutes past my appointment time, which I understood and did not mind. Once called back, an assistant took my vitals and asked the reason for my visit. I explained that it was regarding my miscarriage. She left to speak with Mr. Thompson. I could hear them speaking outside the door. When she returned, she stated that he believed this was a matter for my OB-GYN and that I would need a prescription to complete the miscarriage. I informed her that the prescription had already been provided earlier that morning, and that my OB-GYN had specifically directed me to my PCP for the necessary workplace documentation. She stepped out again, and I could again hear the conversation. I then heard Ms. Dendy’s voice. Mr. Thompson appeared to be explaining the situation to her. I heard Ms. Dendy say, “No, she said the same thing two weeks ago. I don’t have time—I need to get to my patient.” This was extremely upsetting, especially considering that the portal messages clearly show that I have been requesting an appointment for weeks, and have in fact been trying to be seen since September. When the assistant returned, I was informed that they would not be seeing me today. After spending my time, energy, and gas to come to this appointment, I was left feeling dismissed, disrespected, and deeply disappointed—especially given the sensitive nature of my situation. As I was leaving, the front desk informed me that the $20 copay would be refunded. Shortly after returning to my car, I received a call asking whether I preferred the refund to go back to my card or toward my outstanding balance. I requested that it be returned to my card, and was told that was fine. However, upon checking the patient portal, I saw that the amount was applied toward my previous balance instead of refunded, contrary to what I was told. This was my experience today, and based on how I was treated—during an already painful and emotional time—I would rate this visit 0/10.
