Dental providers here are wonderful. Literally every other aspect of this place is despicable. During a gynecological appointment, Dr. Shervon Pierre assured me she would stop the procedure if I felt any pain. When i literally screamed for her to stop she kept going and then laughed with her assistant saying it wasn't so bad after???? I'm horrified at the cruelty, nonchalance and gaslighting I experienced today. I've never felt such a complete betrayal of trust in a medical provider, especially a woman. Front desk staff are insanely rude too, but I could have looked past that if their doctors weren't so disgustingly unprofessional and cruel.
Rude and unprofessional behavior from staff member (Amanda) and clear misunderstanding of HIPAA I called the office today with my grandmother sitting beside me to help translate a simple question about her appointment time. My grandmother fully consented to me assisting her. I wasn’t asking for private medical details, just clarification on the time. The staff member, Amanda, immediately refused to let me speak or assist, saying it was a violation of HIPAA. That is completely incorrect. Under HIPAA, a family member can absolutely help translate or communicate basic information if the patient agrees. I even calmly explained that I manage a dental practice myself and deal with HIPAA regularly, so I know this situation was completely acceptable. Only after I clarified that did Amanda finally give me the appointment time, which turned out to be 2:30, not 2:15 as my grandmother had originally thought. When I explained that we had assumed it was 2:15 and were just calling to let them know we thought we’d be late, Amanda responded in a condescending tone, saying, “Well, I actually spoke with her earlier today and already told her what time her appointment was.” I stayed polite and simply clarified the misunderstanding, but she went completely silent for almost ten seconds afterward. I said I appreciated her help! no response. I said I hoped she had a great day! still silence. When I finally asked if she was going to respond, she hung up on me. This was shockingly unprofessional and unnecessarily rude. No patient or family member should be treated like that, especially when they’re being polite and cooperative. I truly hope management reviews this incident and provides training on basic communication, professionalism, and proper understanding of HIPAA, because no one deserves to be spoken to or dismissed that way.
Excellent Dental Hygienist at Affinity Health Center I had a wonderful experience with the dental hygienist at Affinity Health Center. He was very professional, gentle, and caring, and made me feel completely comfortable during my cleaning. He explained everything clearly, gave helpful advice for better oral care, and took great care to make sure the cleaning was thorough but painless. His friendly attitude and genuine concern for his patients make a big difference. I truly appreciate the excellent service and highly recommend him and the Affinity Health Center dental team! Farnood
I go to the rock hill location I love the dental department but medical side I feel like the doctors don’t care or even listen half the time. I sat and waited for over an hour from my scheduled appointment then when the doctor finally came in I was trying to explain my health issues I was having for her to look at me and say I can only address one issue because I only allow myself 15 min per patient. If you are scheduling a new patient visit you can get an appointment pretty quickly for established patient you have to wait 4 months for an appointment. I have had a stroke a year ago, Last month I called for an appointment because I wasn’t feeling well at all they said we don’t have an opening for 4 months go to the ER. It’s ridiculous. I feel like they have the attitude of patients have to come here because they have no insurance and are low incomes so who cares they’ll come back no matter how bad we treat them.
My first visit started off shaky. I was scheduled for a 10:15. I arrived 15 minutes early to do the new patient paperwork. I checked in, filled out the documents, and I was seated. Before I go any further I want to make something clear. They were experiencing a high volume of patients and they were training new staff members. I sat in the lobby for an hour and thirty minutes. I sat so long I fell asleep. I go check to see what's taking so long and the lady informs me that I was not checked in. She called to the back and she told me 15 minutes. I waited an extra 30 minutes only to have my appointment rescheduled. I literally spent a whole week going back and forth but the staff is always nice and respectful to me. The lab techs are great at drawing blood because I have an extreme needle phobia. She kept me calm and I never felt the needle go In or come out. Dr. Spangler is an awesome Dr. Overall other than that one day. I like going there.
