Dr. Neil Harwani(DO) is absolutely one of the best doctors I have ever seen in 53 years. His attention to detail is amazing. His bedside manner is also amazing. I have a very complex medical history with ongoing complications. For me to explain everything in detail in the allocated time for a new patient is impossible. Other doctors just rush you and don't listen to meet that time stamp. Dr. Harwani did not care about time, he cared about fully understanding my history so he could properly address my issues. This is top grade care. I am very thankful they brought me on as a new patient having my complex history. Very caring, compassionate, and understanding care team and I am extremely happy I decided to give them the opportunity to form a relationship with me to take care of all my health needs. Thank you Dr. Harwani for doing what you do and being good at what you do!
This is not feedback about medical staff, but about the surgery scheduling team. My wife had been on the calendar for over a month for a sensitive procedure last Thursday 9/25/25. When we arrived at 11am, as asked, we were informed that the insurance authorization was missing. We found out that this authorization request had been submitted merely a couple of days before and had not even been expedited. Long story short, we spent the entire day waiting in vain, only to be asked to go home in the afternoon after surgeon was not able to wait any longer for it. No patient or loved one has to be concerned about something like this. This is what the staff gets paid for, and this certainly was not a hair salon appointment; it is a very sensitive health situation. We got on the phone ourselves directly with the insurance and were able to get it approved by the following morning. Thankfully, another doctor is able to perform on 10/10/25. This was a totally unacceptable situation and should not be experienced by anyone. 10/13/25: Two weeks ago, I contacted the email address provided with more specific details, as requested. However, I have not received even a simple acknowledgement about it. This speaks volumes and, with all due respect, we truly hope not to need this office again. Thankfully, surgery went well on 10/10/25 and Mission medical staff was amazing.
Dr. Verrastro is absolutely wonderful! Both of my toddlers and I see her, and she is always so kind, patient, and attentive. She really takes the time to listen to any concerns I have and explains things clearly. My kids feel comfortable with her, which means so much to me as a parent. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a caring and knowledgeable doctor!
I've been a patient at MAHEC for a long time. And I absolutely love Dr.Fagan. He is one of those rare doctors who actually listens to his patients. I would have given a five-star rating EXCEPT they have a new triage system now that I just cannot support. Instead I've been transferred directly to a nurse when needed, you are transferred to an answering service at all times of day and I told you will get a call back. They say you'll get a call back within 30 minutes OTHER THAN at busier times. It's ALWAYS busy. I understand that they probably did this to make it easier for the nurses. But what about the patients?
I like MAHEC. The providers and support staff are great. I don't have anything negative to say about the care I receive. However, they have gone to 3rd party answering services, during the day, for everything. They want you to use your portal or online scheduling. You can't talk directly to anyone who is at MAHEC unless you speak with the 3rd party answering service. They take a message and it's a toss up if you get a call back. Why have y'all done this? It feels so wrong and impersonal.
