I really appreciate this community health center that is so important to residents throughout the region. They have comprehensive care in a newly developed facility. I just would like to see more of a trauma informed approach. This is a place that serves a diverse community. Being inclusive and not restricting community members from accessing care is important. The best advice I can provide is to be a willing participant that engages openly to develop a working relationship with care providers. Taking our health into our hands improves the quality of our health outcomes. It is a collaborative process. They try to be accommodating and understanding of individual needs as we are all at varying ages, stages and have differences in our conditions, symptoms and there are many alternatives to a person's treatment options. They try to deliver on compassionate care and many providers are genuinely dedicated to promoting individual and community health. There is always a concern of inexperienced care and sometimes it can cause further injuries. It is important to designate some care to those who are trained and understand the patient's complex needs.
I’m so sick of this place. I waited A YEAR for my dental appointment that I badly been needing and they wait until the day of my appointment a couple hours before my appointment to call and cancel because of staffing which that’s not my dam issue! This place is so unprofessional. You can never get in to get any work done then they wanna say you need all this work done but guess what they never hold up their appointments! This isn’t the first time this has happened to me either with them! They even called me yesterday evening to CONFIRM my appointment then today call to reschedule because of negligent staffing! BBB needs to get involved this place is absolutely horrible and love to scam your insurance company as well. Claim you need more work then you actually do Ik this is a fact because myself and others went to aspen and you don’t need nowhere near as much work as this place claims! Don’t waste ur time go to aspen if you can! Avoid this place because you’ll be in pain waiting forever and will never actually get ur work done!
Been in here a few times There are some real struggles with people coming in hanging out like it's there territory. Some of the staff talk down on people for little to no reason and are almost always in a bad mood or have a poor attitude The place looks nice and it's hard to knock on a space for having a poor customer base but they could make some adjustments to ensure a better experience. They could use some visual ques for the patients standing in line and better positions for seating to ensure privacy. Consistent problems throughout my visits From privacy concerns to condiscending employees there is a lot of room improvement
Medically, things have been super rough for me lately, to say the very least! I was fortunate to know one of the providers at The Chautauqua Center before deciding to switch my care there. I was referred to a primary care physician that I’m still getting to know, but so far, things are going okay. In August, during one of my first appointments, I wasn't able to walk at that time and had to take Medical Transportation. They drove me there, but sadly, they weren't able to give me a ride home, even though it was arranged almost a month in advance. I ended up sitting in the waiting room for quite a few hours, crying. The staff went out of their way to try to get a hold of Medical Transportation for me, and after almost an hour of the front office doing that, I was able to secure a ride home. I was an excruciating pain, having been there for an extra three hours past my appointment time, but they did everything to accommodate my needs and make sure that I was not only safe, but taking care of again to the best of their abilities. I’ve been there multiple times now to see different providers, and I am happy with the overall care. I have to say, the front staff are kind and empathetic, and I’ve never had any issues upon entering. Parking is easily accessible for the most part, as long as there’s not a semi blocking it. They also have an elevator, which is super convenient for me because I’m not doing stairs yet. I drive over a half an hour to a different county to come here, and I would highly recommend it. I’ve grown up in Erie County and sadly have had low income for a while, and medical facilities like this are generally absolutely horrible. I am ecstatic to say that the patient and provider relationship that I’ve been building with my team feels genuine, and I feel like I’m not just a number there. It can be very difficult navigating things, and I’ve expressed that I needed help in certain aspects. I've never been judged; they're basically meeting me where I’m at and trying to help me get to a better place, so I’m super grateful.
I was considering becoming a new patient at TCC in Dunkirk. I decided to go to my sister’s appointment with her to see what the office and atmosphere was like. We didn’t get past patient registration and the experience was already less than favorable. I work in a healthcare setting and this is unacceptable. Not only was my sister’s provider not in the office today, she was not notified. When Alyssa Rios, patient registration, realized that my sister hadn’t been notified, she flounced off without saying a word to my sister. If my sister had not shown up for her scheduled appointment without notifying them, she would have been charged and could potentially lose her spot as a patient there, depending on their policies. I highly recommend maybe doing some internal in-services with your team, so you can provide a top tier medical experience for your patients now and in the future. Also, highly recommend having more compassionate and emotionally aware front facing people at your front desk.
