I think it varies depending on the doctor and the situation.
My appointment was cancelled because of a severe snow storm. The scheduler told me that it could be 9 month to a year before another 45 minute physical appointment would be available as my doctor is only available two days a week and very very busy. This concerned me as I have a number of health issues. I was shocked and delighted when CCFHS called me that afternoon and said the doctor knew I should be seen and he made room on his very busy schedule if I could come within half an hour. I jumped. I was so pleased with my doctor, his nurse, the scheduler, and CCFHS for taking the extra steps to accommodate me. Having spent much of my life with Harvard COOP/Pilgrim with world-class doctors and facilities, when I retired and moved to NH I was prepared for a letdown. Didn't happen. Over ten years I have been deeply impressed with CCFHS: the quality of the doctors, the quality of the facilities, and the deeply caring attitude of everyone from the receptionists to the specialists to the nurses. Thanks for keeping me whole!
I moved here 2 and a half years ago and at that time I had just been placed on high blood pressure medication. I have been in and out for appointments and almost every time my blood pressure was elevated into hypertension stage 2. I have recently asked to be referred to a cardiologist to which they have denied my last 3 appointments. I am being told that they deal with blood pressure and will not send me to a cardiologist unless I have chest pain. I had my Dr.'s notes printed out and they did not include in there one time my request to see a cardiologist.
Horrible Place. They don't care about anyone, can't treat anything, if they do you get minimal care. Mention you have a yeast infection for a month they make you wait 2 weeks to get treated. Went for prenatal care they dont check your iron, dont tell you the results, can't ever answer any pregnancy questions besides saying "that's normal". Always have a substitute doctor that says "I don't know I don't work here", to EVERYTHING. Dr Plocenik is good at delivering babies but always has a substitute, this time the substitute said having Anterior placenta is normal, treated me like I was dumb for asking questions, said having pain in vagina is normal. We asked if we could get the iron test results that they didnt tell us they tested for until we asked. They tested it apparently 8 weeks before this and the doctor rushed out so fast that he HIT MY 17 MONTH OLD IN THE FACE WITH THE DOOR, and knocked him on the ground. My kid has a welt on his face now and the doctor didn't apologize just ran away and said "your fast", as my kid is holding his breath. Been going here for 6 years since I moved here and am appalled at how they are actually considered healthcare. What a joke. I would pay $100 in gas every week if I had to to go to Littleton or anywhere but here. YOU AS A PATIENT ARE NOT CARED ABOUT.
