I will never go to this or any other CHP again. I've been a patient at CHP for over a decade, and the quality of care has rapidly declined. I had an annual appointment scheduled this spring. I arrived 15 minutes early, and at the appointment time, was taken into a room. Twenty minutes later, I was informed that the doctor had to take a call. The nurse couldn't tell me how long she'd be. I explained that I had an hour before I had to leave for work. I waited a full hour after my appointment was to start, then left. I rescheduled that appointment. The doctor was 45 minutes late for that rescheduled appointment and asked me why I was overdue for a cancer screening. I explained that it was supposed to have been done at the annual appointment. When I reminded her that she'd been on the phone and had missed the appointment, her response was "oh yeah, I remember." No apology. She then informed me that I should really have that screening done that day, but she'd just learned 5 minutes before the appointment that 15 immigrant families had arrived the day before, so she wouldn't have time. This type of behavior isn't abnormal. She was three hours late for an appointment I'd had several years earlier. When I was sick and had to relay information through receptionists and nurses, it was never relayed correctly or completely. During one of these relays, a nurse apparently scheduled me for an appointment, never told me, and then called me to question why I'd missed the appointment. The office staff are hit or miss. Some are polite and wonderful. Others aren't. One administrator walked out into the reception area while I was trying to schedule a shot to loudly inform the receptionist that a nurse should be scheduling it. She called the medication I was receiving by name, loudly declaring it to the entire waiting room. It's taken me years to find a new doctor elsewhere, and I'm so glad to know that I'll never have to go back to this facility again.
Primaries like to push medication, people in the office either didn't know what they were doing or had no respect for when I worked regarding calls on paperwork. Also had privacy concerns too. They are good for basic stuff ...that you could just go to the urgent care clinic for.
I'm only giving 3 stars because I do like my doctor there. The doctors are good, But the reception in this office is ridiculous. I understand we are in a pandemic great now I have called on 4 or 5 separate occasion's sense the pandemic started and never received a phone call back from anyone at the doctor's office for any of my issues. Most time I had to go to the ER or just ride it out. And like someone else mentioned in an earlier post they never seem that busy when you actually go there. Everyone is always very short with you and doesn't seem concerned about why you are calling or are there. If you can get past the reception issues like I said the doctors are good.
The reception at CHP is awful. I asked a nurse about one option for getting information from a previous doctor to which she answered, "You could try," and promptly hung up the phone. Every time I get on the phone, and I mean EVERY time, I am put on hold for 20 minutes at a time. I would understand if it was a massive practice in the city, but it's not. It's a tiny practice and no one is ever in the building to hold up the receptionists. Besides poor time management, many receptionists are extremely short with you and unhelpful, like the nurse I was on the phone with recently.
I just have to say that the nurses here make me feel like any issue that I’m bringing up about my kids is something they’ve never ever heard of before. Like really common stuff. So it makes me feel unwelcome, not normal, and not listened to at all. They don’t even take the time before calling to get my info about my appointment right. It almost feels like they intentionally try to misunderstand me. Literally every interaction I have with them, whether in person or over the phone, puts me in a really confused and bad place. How about a little kindness and openness and understanding? And doing your job instead of continually getting info that’s right in front of you wrong for me to then have to correct. We’ve never experienced this kind of uncaring attitude at our old doctors - a much larger but more organized practice, before moving here. This place just gives me a really bad feeling about our over all healthcare system in this country. That being said we do like our practitioner that we see there Stephanie Taylor.
