I love Eleisa and Naomi. I love come here to star. They real are some amazing people. . They very helpful and very friendly.
I like going to Star because Dr. Eleisa Floyd is very kind and cares about her patients.
I had been looking for a Dentist for about 2 months. I found Teche Action Clinic but with no luck at all, which is my luck almost always there system was down and had been for a good while. Waiting & hoping for it to come back up another 2-3 weeks passed. Still nothing. So I asked if there was any other place that could take me and the Start program came up. I had tried everywhere including Start, I hadn't gone there bc the same day I went to Teche my sister had an appt. & when she asked about walk-ins they said they didn't take them. So when the Start ofc was mentioned again I thought I would call. It couldn't hurt & I got an appt the next day but as luck would have it I needed 2 teeth surgically removed along with a list of other dental problems to take care of. I seen them in Dec and don't have an appt until March 10th. I guess I should be thankful for having something lined up at all but 3 months with pain like this can be very draining and a rough obstacle everyday that doesn't seem to have success in it anywhere. A never-ending battle. No end in sight! I have to fight to stay sane and not go crazy but I guess looking back and in the future I can say 3 months have passed and only 1 month left to go and the pain is gone forever. I just pray that I can manage it until then. I have been to the E.R. At least 4 or 5 times bc at times it's unbearable. I can barely deal with it, lack of sleep, agitation. Almost over.
The people mean well, but like most social services, their over booked and understaffed. Expect to wait hours past your appointment time. They rarely run on time. The people are friendly and as I mentioned they mean well, but they don't always follow through with things. I presume this is simply because they doing to many things and simply forget. *Update*. Since moving to the Civic center location things have improved, they have more space and more counselors. Wait times have greatly improved.
Dont be nervous when going here. I was at first. It seems like the ghetto when getting to the location. It has a small waiting room which is usually full. It is their regulars. However the staff is so nice very helpful and kind. The doctors section for primary care looks like a smaller version of a doctors patient room. The staff listens to you and really care about your individual needs. The psychiatry section is the same small but just like any other. Again very nice very caring and listen to your needs and care about you. Later this month I will check out the dentistry portion. I love how they have coffee and sometimes snacks for their regulars. Many of these people are on disability and go here for social gathering and a sense of community. This is an amazing center and I believe they have and will better everyone's lives as they have done with mine. Many times if your on medicade or Medicare you get poor treatment or lack of care. Here is not the case they are a leading g example on how the health care system should treat their patients. I will tell everyone I know and will always speak highly of them. Thank you.
