After my doctor moved away, it was really stressful trying to find someone I could trust and feel comfortable with. Finding Dr. Dolen has truly been a blessing. She is incredibly intelligent, deeply empathetic, and so down-to-earth. She takes every concern seriously, listens carefully, and always makes you feel genuinely cared for. She is attentive in a way that makes you feel seen and understood, not just another patient in the schedule. I actually went to school with her, and even back then she was smart, kind, and thoughtful — it’s no surprise she’s the same amazing person today. Dr. Dolen is truly the best, and I can’t recommend her enough to anyone looking for a compassionate, knowledgeable, and attentive doctor who really cares about her patients.

I wish I were exaggerating, but this week with Cumberland Family Medical was one of the most humiliating and traumatizing experiences of my life. I ran out of my medications and called immediately to schedule an appointment, and was told my provider was out and no one was covering prescriptions. I explained I was in a mental health crisis and starting to withdraw. No one helped me. I called multiple offices, left messages, begged the admin line, tried urgent care - nothing. Everyone just said “we can’t help you.” In a last-ditch effort, I called First Choice Immediate Care in Lincoln County. I spoke to Carla Ireland, the clinic manager, hoping someone could help me get a bridge refill until my provider returned. Instead, she called the police on me behind my back, then tried to hang up the phone. What happened next was horrifying: I was surrounded by four male cops, EMS, and a crisis response team in a public parking lot, while I was panicking and still without meds. It was humiliating, dangerous, and completely unnecessary as I had shared with Carla earlier in the call that I was safely in public with my fiancé. The worst part? While this circus was unfolding, another office finally called to say my medication had been refilled - then later I found out both medications were approved for a full 30-day supply. After 24+ hours of doing everything right, being gaslit, and begging for help, they just filled it like nothing happened. There was no accountability. No empathy. Just negligence, fear tactics, and a manager who escalated instead of caring. If you’re in crisis, neurodivergent, or dealing with trauma, avoid this network at all costs.
