I’ll try to get straight to the point. San Fernando Community Health Center is one of the most ghetto and unprofessional medical facilities I’ve ever been to. I was a patient here for over 6 years, before I eventually found a very decent Doctor in Santa Clarita. During those years I’ve seen different providers almost every visit. I got the run around with my referrals, and with trying to see specialists. I received my first ever parking violation because I unknowingly parked in front of the office during trash day, and while waiting for my appointment, a worker came in the lobby and gave a long announcement in Spanish, that they were ticketing cars, then finally in English. You’d think the clinic would have enough sense to publicly disclose that to patients. Since I’m sure the staff knew not to park there during those hours. The receptionists aren’t that welcoming, nor competent, but certainly not the worst. Now regarding the medical team. There’s two particular workers that have absolutely no business practicing medicine and dealing with the general public. The medical assistant that’s about 5’8” blonde hair and probably late twenties, sucks! She’s desensitized, has no bedside manners, rude, impatient and always seems like she has an attitude. While waiting for past appointments, she’s come into the lobby to get other patients and exhibited the same nasty attitude towards them, that she had with me. I was glad when I had another assistant during those visits. Who wants to deal with that?! Jennifer the Nurse Practitioner with tattoos is awful! Not only was she unprofessional by speaking negatively about my previous Doctor there, her colleague, she also had an attitude about me asking questions and expressing my concerns. I had a in office re pap, that was requested by my previous Doctor, the one Jennifer was speaking negatively about in front of myself and the assistant. I also requested a referral for a mammogram since I had concerns about chest discomfort and burning sensations in my breast. She asked the assistant if those were considered separate appointments, the pap & mammogram referral. So I had a tele-visit scheduled the following day, because she wanted to bill my insurance for separate appointments that weren’t needed. I asked for a referral for a mammogram. Her response was, you’re too young, your insurance isn’t going to cover that until you’re 40. I was 31 then. I mentioned that money wasn’t an issue, and that I want to make sure I don’t have breast cancer. She then said sarcastically, oh so you’ll pay for it out of pocket? And I responded, yes, if I have to. The following day we had a tele-vist and discussed the mammogram. She said I don’t need it. I explained that there isn’t an age limit on developing breast cancer. She then told me during the call “you seem like you don’t believe what I’m telling you, you can request another Doctor.” I never received my results nor a follow up appointment with her. That was my final visit. My then new Doctor requested SFCHC release my medical records to his office. After months of waiting, I got a call from a woman that barely spoke English telling me they can’t just release my records, that the Doctor has to request it. I explained to her, that’s exactly who requested them. So they required me to come into the office and fill out a form, which I did. And I was finally done with them! I would NEVER recommend San Fernando Community Health Center! There were a few providers and medical assistants that seemed nice, but overall that’s not enough to recommend. There’s much more I could add about my experience here, but this review would turn into a dissertation.
Was at this clinic for 9 years , when I got pregnant even with my second baby I didn’t want to switch but now looking back I definitely should have. Staff is a hit or miss, they definitely overbook & only give a 15 minute window for each patient, spoken out of the mouth of the pediatrician because we kept asking her questions when our son had colic. Appointments are weeks out, the OB called my husband a pervert because he wanted to see when she was checking me after birth. The pediatrician was no help either trying to minimize when my son had colic, as first time parents it’s scary so we look to these specialist to help us, but instead we were met with responses as if we were dumb. Could go on & on but my advice is just fine another clinic that will treat you like a human, not another number in the books. Even if you have to drive a little out of the way.
Dr Garcia is wonderful! She always adresses my issues and makes sure all the referal & prescriptions ar filled and correct! She is a fantastic person! Terry Burk
Very unprofessional. Understaffed and under qualified. There’s two doctors for this entire facility and a bunch of nurses. I’ve been trying to get a simple medical evaluation for months. Appointments never on time you will be waiting a long time, they never hold to their word they told me 7-10 business days for my medical evaluation at the beginning of October and the month is almost over no update no call no notification or anything. Everytime I call they say they will “leave a note” for them to call but never nothing. I wouldn’t reccomend this place. Changing my PCP for sure
I did have some good experiences they are good at getting you referrals and my wait time wasn’t long. Tried to give me a appointment far out I told them I was just ran over by a car I can’t wait that long for a follow up was able to get an appointment the next day so I’m like hmmm yall do have appointments. It’s taking my doctor almost a month to sign my leave of absence paperwork. They have you call all these people to follow up none of them ever answer their phones. Staff have poor communication.
