⭐️ 1-Star Google Review I had an extremely frustrating and discouraging experience with Serenity Help and the provider I was scheduled with, Ada Grace Obah-Okpoko, NP. Before booking, I specifically asked if I would be seeing a psychiatrist and was told yes. Had I known I was being scheduled with a nurse practitioner, I would have chosen a different provider. That lack of clarity alone was disappointing. I came to this appointment because I am actively seeking help. I clearly explained that I fully believe in talk therapy and that I am already in the process of starting therapy and waiting for a call back. Therapy is part of my plan. However, another part of my plan was receiving a proper psychiatric evaluation and possible diagnosis, which is the entire reason I sought psychiatric care. From the beginning of the appointment, the interaction felt off. I had my phone out because I had notes prepared about symptoms and concerns I wanted to discuss. She asked me multiple times what was “wrong” with my phone and appeared annoyed when I explained that nothing was wrong and that I was simply referencing notes. Ironically, her own phone rang during the appointment, and while she apologized, I continued to see her handling her phone afterward. Given the attention she placed on my phone use, this felt unprofessional and inconsistent. The most concerning issue was the lack of a comprehensive psychiatric assessment. She stated that she did not feel comfortable diagnosing me, specifically mentioning my age as a reason she would need to rule things out. Rather than exploring my symptoms thoroughly or trying to understand the full picture, she focused narrowly on a limited part of my history and did not attempt to identify root causes. She repeatedly emphasized that therapy should be the primary focus without first completing a full evaluation. I clearly stated that I am already seeking therapy and waiting for follow-up, but that I was there for evaluation, clarity, and guidance. That purpose was never met. What felt especially contradictory was her statement that she does not like prescribing medication, which is confusing given her role in psychiatric care. She also expressed concern about protecting her license, which further reduced my confidence in her willingness to appropriately assess or treat patients. There was also a communication barrier that made the appointment more difficult. When I asked for clarification or repetition so I could better understand, she appeared irritated rather than supportive. Toward the end of the visit, she discussed the possibility of me switching my primary care provider so their practice could manage medications, which felt confusing and inconsistent given the rest of the appointment. For someone actively seeking mental health support, this experience was invalidating and discouraging. A psychiatric intake should involve a thorough evaluation, not ruling someone out based on age or avoiding diagnosis altogether. This experience reinforced for me how important it is to confirm exactly who you will be seeing and what level of care is actually being offered before scheduling. I would strongly caution others seeking comprehensive psychiatric evaluation to do the same.
Everyone at the front desk are amazing. They always help me out and always take care of me. They always clearly explain the days I can come for appointments and can see me right away or the day after if I need to reschedule. Phanny, Winter and Christine are the dream team, they are the receptionists. They have such a lively and supportive energy while remaining professional. They are what keep me enjoying to come back.
This is my favorite office. Everyone here is so helpful. They get things done quickly and they make me feel like they really care! P Williams helped me today and went above and beyond. She even stayed on the line with me to call LA care and help me. I’m so grateful
I love going to this medical center for both my physical and mental needs. Dr. Ogbechie is great he really listened to my concerns was able to assess me and implemented a treatment plan that has been most successful. I'm now able to begin to rebuild my life both in the work field and with my family. Thank you for treating your patients with kindness.
