This is where my primary care is assigned since I have Medi-Cal and itās the only Medi-Cal Saint Jude primary offices unfortunately, if I didnāt have specialist through Saint Jude, I would switch insurances just to never come here again. I have not seen my primary in three years due to the poor service here. For starters they put me with a nurse practitioner even though I requested a doctor and they treat you like youāre less than or garbage. Theyāre used to treating the homeless community and other groups that they seem to see as less than themselves and just treat everyone like their riffraff. Prior to having Saint Jude insurance, I had different insurance through Cal Optima and was never treated this way. I went to a regular doctors office that was not specifically for low income people and was not treated this way at all. They definitely make you feel some type of way being here. I live in a home. I have a car. I have three kids. Iām very involved in my kids school. I donāt drink or smoke or do drugs or anything and they treat everyone in there like a homeless or a junkie or something. Iāve had two heart surgeries and A history of growth on my thyroid and I was trying to get a referral to a new thyroid doctor since I didnāt have one on this new insurance just my cardiologist that I got referred to when I was at the Saint Jude OB, which was great and she would not give me a referral to a new thyroid doctor. Iām supposed to be monitoring the growth on my thyroid to see if they grow and she would not send me a referral so itās been three years of it not being monitored now she wanted some type of proof which I didnāt physically have. I figured it was something she could look up with my medical record. Iāve never had this issue with any other doctors before I would understand having me sign something to release that information but that was not even an option when I asked it was just a flat out no I havenāt gone back to see a primary. I just go to urgent care when Iām sick , and see my cardiologist as scheduled and my OB as scheduled. Itās unfortunate people canāt get the care they need because they are looked down on at this place. Hopefully the nodules on my thyroid arenāt still growing undetected because the lack of care at this place. If you have any other options, I would not go here. If any other Saint Jude providers took Medi-Cal I would switch in a heartbeat. I only stick with Saint Jude to not lose my cardiologist and OB
Nov 2025 update: i no longer come here. i felt overtime, they only prefer a certain type of patients. it's not diverse anymore and they kept pushing me away to another location far from my house. reason i choose this place was because i can walk across the street. but they kept pushing over n over to their location miles away. i dont drive n have knee n ankle issues. i switched to KCS health, 10 times better, huge difference in qualty if care --- I read all the comments prior coming here. 1st off i understand what most of the negative reviews were focused on and its valid to an extent. 2nd the nurses n NP are really nice. I know some are stressed but for the most part their friendly. 3rd Just try n make them laugh n help them feel appreciated. Its not easy being in medical field. Their easy to talk to just be patient. I know with mask on cant smile but u can greet them nicely n cheerfully. I think at many times they get a big rush of ppl all at once n staff gets overwhelmed so some staff feel really stressed. It was my first visit so i'll keep updating with every visit. I'll probably drop off donuts n or buy lunch one day for them. I wud give all of them hugs if i could but donuts or sugar free candy might put a positive vibe for a day or two Fyi the location is inside the park
Iām shocked at reading the bad reviews, I went today for my first visit after over 2 years of being bounced from diff Drs I literally was at no hope, I honestly had no hope coming to this clinic n from the moment I walked In I was treated great by the girl at the front desk, the girl who called me back n weighed me n took my BP was very nice, I saw Amal and she actually took the time to listen to me, sadly Iāve been so ignored n bounced around it shocked me how caring she was, She genuinely listened n cared on my problems, I left with hope and now Iām on the road to get the help I need, I know on Drs n being ignored n out of hope, I am so thankful I am with them now n only wish I had been with her 2 years ago, 10 stars āļø HONEST real patient šš»āāļø
All of our interactions with the folks here have been very good. They are busy, very busy & very under appreciated. Give respect and you get respect. Be patient & stay calm - they are humans just like you.
After waiting on hold for nearly 30 minutes, the gentleman who answered the phone, was sharp and annoyed. Instead of the standard "How can I help you," I got words and annoyed tone. I thought I had called someones home by accident. So I confirmed this was indeed St. Jude Neighborhood Health. I then inquired as to whether they were accepting new clients for one service in particular. The answer was no, which is fine. Unfortunately, rather than tell me that directly, I was advised to call my insurance (who had directed me to call them to see if they had openings.) The man attempted to get me off the phone in 30seconds or less. If I hadn't been on hold so long, I might have just done as he suggested, but as the day goes on, wait times take longer. It wasn't peek afternoon time so expect long hold times with this place. I can imagine how grumpy he might be when the call volume increases. The less than 60 seconds it took for him to rush me off the call, is what it took for me to decide I'd rather not keep them as my PCP. I'm sure not everyone is like this here. But this was my first contact with this group and that matters.
