I want to thank the entire team for everything you did for my mom Rose. She chose to go to SEARHC for a moment but she did not feel supported there and wanted to return to Jamhi. She always had great things to say about everyone at Jamhi and how much she felt cared for. The fact that her care team made sure she received her monthly Invega for two years, even when she could not make it into the office, meant so much to her and to me. Your coordination and your commitment to her care made a real difference, especially while she was battling cancer. I cannot express enough gratitude for all you did to support her. Thank you again for everything!!!
My partner’s provider for psychiatric medication was apparently fired, and my partner had to find out through his therapist *after* there were no refills left for his medication. Additionally, he was told that the new provider for psychiatric medication has a mean streak, so OBVIOUSLY my partner didn’t want to consult with him/her. Due to all of this over several months, he has had to go COLD TURKEY off his medication THREE TIMES until he could get his medicine, and we’ve reached our breaking point. Going cold turkey off of ANY psychiatric medication proves an immense risk to mental health and suicidality, and this ongoing failure to provide continuity of care is putting community members at serious risk. I have wholehearted empathy for those who are simply doing their best in a severely underfunded and overworked sector like mental health, AND, this is simply unacceptable.
I went there 3 years ago. I thanked Michael for his help and I'm very sorry to hear he was fired. He was a blessing. I started going again a little over a year ago now but now it seems the staff have to cancel alot due to illness or just being on vacation or late for morning appointments. Makes it hard for me because I have to tell my boss my appointment was cancelled and rescheduled so we have to find coverage for my work schedule. Other than that when they are available they are helpful. Another example is my grant will be delayed 2 months because coordinator will be away, on vacation?
I have mixed feeling after going there for 2 years but as time goes on, they just seems to be getting worse and worse. They do offer a lot of services and accepts Medicaid. They only have 1 psychiatrist for hundreds of patients, so the wait time is about 4 months even being a patient. Their activities are fun but they change the times all time which is frustrating. They fired Michael, the only therapist in Alaska that does neurofeedback which was probably the worst decision they could ever make. They tried to make him take over the 24hr emergency shifts and expect him to work the same regular hours. He didnt want to so they immediately fired him, leaving all his patients high and dry. Several of them attempted suicide and had to stay in the hospital for weeks. I thankfully didn't get that far but I could have. The politics and general care from here is just overall very poor.
The care I receive her is phenomenal! The progress I've accomplished with the support of my team is amazing, I'm consistently treated with dignity and respect my privacy is well protected and I consider Jahmi's to be the best facility I've ever worked with. I've been receiving care for over 10 years and I'm happy to have found a mental health facility that makes me feel like a friend and not just a client.
