It was very organized and the employees where all friendly and professional. I come there instead of the Anniston center. I drove 45 minutes but it was worth it. The doctor there was very knowledgeable and was detailed on what I needed to do for my eye care

I tried to make an appointment for a family member and had an awful experience with the woman at the central scheduling office. This family member is mentally unable to work, has no income, and no household income. When I explained this, she refused to listen and insisted that because someone must be providing food or clothing, their income had to be used instead. That is not accurate in this case. This family member lives alone, off-grid, in a camper. Despite this, the scheduler was extremely rude, dismissive, and unwilling to hear the situation. This clinic is supposed to offer a sliding scale program and states that they do not turn people away based on inability to pay, yet she told me bluntly that if we were “looking for a free clinic, this is NOT THE PLACE.” I made it clear we were not looking for a free clinic. What I questioned was how a nonprofit, federally qualified health center with a sliding scale program could exclude someone simply because they have no income at all. The way I was spoken to was unprofessional and lacked any compassion. According to their own website, Quality of Life Health Services, Inc. states that they provide healthcare to everyone and that their mission is to foster dignity and provide care regardless of ability to pay. That mission was grossly misrepresented by the way this interaction was handled. Based on this experience, their stated values of “People Caring About People” were not reflected at all.
